Family Breaks In Oxford

A family that plays together stays together – so goes the saying. But what about a family that travels together? How do you keep little ones entertained while absorbing the traditions and culture of one of England’s most architecturally stunning cities? The answer starts with a melt-your-heart teddy bear.

Meet Colin

Colin is our mascot teddy bear. His name was chosen by one of our subscribers, Kelly from the US, and we thought it was perfect – it pays respect to Colin Dexter OBE, the famed English crime writer known for the Inspector Morse novels set in Oxford. Colin meets and greets all our young guests and, because he loves to play, he always comes with pencils or crayons, a colouring book, and a wooden yoyo.

During a Family InSpires package at Old Parsonage Hotel or Old Bank Hotel, children are also given a luxurious wooden tea set and balancing stones they can take home as keepsakes of their trip to Oxford. The gifts come courtesy of toy brand Happy Little Folks. We’re thrilled with this partnership because the founder, Iga Sielenko, shares the same eco-friendly and sustainable values as The Oxford Collection. She also clearly pours a lot of love and care into each product and design, making them a delight for both parents and their little ones.

Feeding Little Tummies

A day’s sightseeing with children might include a Harry Potter-themed walking tour, exploring a mysterious indoor forest at The Story Museum, or descending to the crypt and cells at Oxford Castle & Prison Castle. When roaming is over, milk and homemade biscuits back at either of the hotels then ensure a restful night’s sleep. Breakfast is included in the morning and there’s 24-hour room service.

Our Family InSpires package at Old Bank Hotel and Old Parsonage Hotel is perfect for families of three and bookable year-round, subject to availability. Parking and Wi-Fi are complimentary, and young ones are invited to browse the board games and children’s books in our exclusive residents’ libraries.
